8 Hollywood actors call “action” for clean water: Bid on celebrity art on World Water Day.
Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, United States—March 10, 2016—herARTS in Action, a 501c3 nonprofit, is excited to announce it’s partnership with actor Kristoffer Polaha as their Celebrity Ambassador, Clean Water Advocate, and Champion of Action through the Arts. With a title like that it’s natural he enlisted help from his celebrity friends for World Water Day activities. Bidding on artwork created by Shiri Appleby, Christopher Backus, Austin Basis, Stana Katic, Kristoffer Polaha, Mira Sorvino, Paul Sorvino and Rainn Wilson will be online March 18-22. The bidding will be on eBay, http://www.ebay.com/usr/herartsinactionbf.
When asked, Why herARTS in Action? Why water? Polaha replied, "I was on Twitter one day last year where herARTS in Action reached out to me and I was impressed with the heart of the organization. Sarah Drake's personal testimony and how simple the solution to the water problem in Africa is made herARTS in Action so compelling that it forced me to action. To me, the most compelling aspect of herARTS in Action is how it seeks to use the power of art to affect change in the world. As an artist, that's a huge idea.” Polaha came up with the idea for him and his friends to paint because Drake and herARTS in Action use artwork to educate about and fundraise for access to water and art and he said he could do that too.
Although Polaha joined the awareness and fundraising campaign last spring by autographing two auction items, Drake is excited about this year’s activity because “By doing this, Kris is modeling the values of the organization. I’m not only honored by this, but I’ve never heard of a celebrity fundraiser where the celebrities create artwork, which makes it very unique, so I’m ecstatic for the possibilities of what it can become.” This is a great way for fans to get something unique from the actors while contributing to a great cause.
In addition to the art auction, herARTS in Action is sponsoring other World Water Day activities in the St. Cloud area.
- Friday, March18, 5:00-9:00PM, a reception for the 10 artist exhibition at Falcon Bank during the art crawl.
- Monday, March 21, 4:30-6:00PM middle school spoken word competition at Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School.
